Many of you are asking how to make your content perform better organically.

Here are three ways you can use Semrush to achieve this:

1. Know your target keywords, inside and out.

Knowing what keywords your audience uses to search for relevant topics is important. But getting a clear idea of what their needs are when searching is crucial.

Use Keyword Overview to get the full picture, from search volume trends and user intent to SERP features and which pages already rank for a keyword. These insights will help you understand what types of content and format you need to create in order to gain high visibility.

 
 
 

2. Hone in on the topics that make your audience tick.

Here's how Mordy Oberstein, Head of SEO Branding at Wix, uses the Topic Research Tool to discover topics that resonate with his audience:

While we as SEOs often wax poetic over "targeting user intent" or becoming a "topical authority," actually doing that is far more dynamic than what traditional keyword research allows for.

This is how I conduct thematic analysis with the Topic Research Tool. Let's take "student loans" as an example.

Right away, I know that potential visitors are:

  1. Looking to see if the loans will have long-term financial consequences (i.e., loan forgiveness)

  3. Trying to figure out how much it's going to cost them!

They are confused.

Which means you should:

  1. Create content from multiple angles to deal with all the various confusions that come with this topic
